What are the eligibility criteria?

To qualify for a job seeker visa for Sweden, you need the following:

  • Must have completed studies equivalent to an advanced level degree.
  • Be able to include a Letter of Consent that gives the Swedish Council for Higher Education the right to contact higher educational authorities in your home country to verify your documents.
  • You must have sufficient funds to manage your expenses during the period you are applying for a permit.

Duration

Once you apply, the Swedish Migration Agency will review your documents and decide your case. If all documents are satisfactory, you will be granted a permit for at least three months for no more than nine months.

If the permit is issued for over three months, you will receive a residence permit card. The card is evidence that your stay is valid in Sweden and features your fingerprint, photo, and other relevant information related to your visa.

What if I have secured a job offer in Sweden or started a business?

If you land a job in Sweden during your stay, you can apply for a work permit. Please note that you cannot start working immediately in Sweden before applying to the Swedish Migration Agency for a valid work permit.
